世界各国からさまざまな人種が集まるニューヨーク。
そのニューヨークにおいて、いまやなくてはならない食の王様アイテムの地位を確立したといっても過言ではないであろう、日本の庶民食文化の代表格「ラーメン」。
ラーメン人口の増加に伴い、ニューヨークの街のあちらこちらに続々とオープンするラーメン屋さんの数は６０軒を超える勢いです。

このラーメン王国ニューヨークにて、ニューヨーカーのためのニューヨーカーによる、ニューヨーク発のオリジナルでユニークなおいしいラーメンを、コンテストを通して創りだすことを主旨として、NYラーメン委員会が発足いたしました！

「新しいNYのラーメンを創る」こと、それは例えれば、お寿司のカリフォルニアロールのように、日本にはなくても米国では一般的に広まったようなものとして、NYから新たな食文化のひとつを生み出し、発展させていくことをひとつの目標とします。参加者だけでなく、試食する側の一般の皆さんと共に試行錯誤しながら、新しい味の発見へとつながることを期待しております。

委員会の主旨はラーメン文化をさらに広めていくことにあり、委員会実行委員長は毎年持ち回りといたします。
委員会発足の今年、初代委員長として、はっちゃんバーのマスター、八藤後　大さんが手腕とリーダーシップを発揮してくださいます。ラーメンコンテストに参加された方、団体は自動的に委員会の会員とし、ラーメン委員会のウェブサイトにて、お店情報、イベント等のインフォメーションを随時サポートいたします。 

コンテストは、２０１２年春より開始されます。単発ではなく、コンスタントに継続して開催される予定です。各コンテストの勝利者は最終段階（年末を予定）において、NYラーメンの本戦へと突入します。この定期的な活動を通じて、今や日本の食文化の目玉になったラーメンをより多くのNYの人々に楽しんでいただくことが、NYラーメン委員会一同、心よりの願いとなります。

NYラーメン委員会公式ロゴ＆デザインは、ニューヨークで活躍するデザイナー、キース・オブライエンさんhttp://www.keith-obrien.com/によるものです。オブライエンさんも大のラーメン好き。
今回のラーメンコンテストプロジェクトにも多大なご協力をいただいております。

NY, a place where people from all over the world come together, especially the traditional Japanese dish, Ramen.  There are over 60 Ramen restaurant throughout NY, and still coming. With growing # of Ramen restaurants in  NY, the NY Ramen Committee( NY RC) has decided to host a Ramen contest to determine the #1 Ramen to NY people. We’d hope to discover a Ramen style just for NY/USA, like  the very popular California Sushi roll, a roll that is not relatively known in Japan.Through this contest and the participation of vendors and customers, we’d hope to be able to achieve this goal.The NYRC will continue its achieves as of this year, in hopes to further spread the culture of Ramen. Masaru Hachi Yatago the executive chef @ Hachan Bar, is currently our first President of the NYRC. 

All vendor participants in this Ramen contest will automatically become a member at the NYRC. The restaurant info for members will be posted up on the NYRC website.

The NY Ramen Contest will commence in spring 2012, there will be several preliminary round, and winners of these rounds will win a ticket to enter the Grand Finale Round of the NYRC which is schedule to be held in winter 2012.
